NBD- Meatball Kolaches
Our family loves meatballs. Especially Benson. So I thought that stuffing a kolache with cheese and meatballs and lots of rich red sauce it would be amazing. AND it was.
Meatball Kolaches
Kolaches base recipe HERE
12 fresh meatballs
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, grated
Marinara sauce
Parmesan cheese, grated
Parsley, for garnish
Assemble the kolaches. Divide the dough into 12 equal portions. Stuff the dough with a handful of mozzarella cheese. Seal the bottom of the dough by pinching the seam. Repeat until all 12 rolls are stuffed. Place the rolls on a lighty greased baking sheet. A few inches apart.
Brush an egg wash onto each roll, the press down the middle of each stuffed roll. Place a meatball into the middle of each space you made in the kolache. Then drizzle the marinara on top of each meatball and around the dough. Sprinkle with the left over shredded cheese and top with a little Parmsan if desired before baking.
Bake at 400 degrees for 24-28 minutes until golden brown, cheese is melted and meatballs are cooked through.
Remove from the oven and cool slightly before serving. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley.
