Rainy, bubbly, New York.
Do you see the bubbles? Yes, I do too… sometimes it rains in New York. And it happened to rain the day we went to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. And by rain, I mean the heavens opened up and water flooded the streets.
I washed these shoes before we came to New York, you see, I wore these wonderfully comfortable shoes when I walked around Orlando back in April. I wanted them to be fresh, shiny, clean. I wanted to be stylish in New York but mostly comfortable.
Apparently, all the soap didn’t come out. And the more I walked, the more I foamed. At one point, I was laughing out loud that people stopped to ask me what’s so funny…..
It made the rainy day fun…. and we will always have this memory. I’m sure Brian won’t let me forget it.
I was so excited to see Lady Liberty- she was beautiful despite the storm and the bubbly shoes. Pictures don’t do her justice. I can’t imagine being an immigrant on a ship, coming into the harbor, and seeing her for the first time. Knowing you’ve made it to the port of New York. America! Inspiring. (Notice the construction- we couldn’t get any closer than this.)
Once it dried out, my feet seemed to stop bubbling, just in time for us to catch the ferry to Ellis Island.
Who does things like this? Anyone?
Happy Baking!
