Rose Ice Cream on Studio 5

Today on Studio 5, I’m sharing with you my favorite ice cream base…. with a new twist! I wrote the book, 1o1 Gourmet Ice Cream Creations…. by far husband’s favorite cookbook of all time. Homemade ice cream is always a good idea. And with this book, the options for recipes is endless.

Rose Ice Cream. I first tasted Rose Ice Cream and Layla’s Mediterranean Bar and Grill in Holladay. It’s a favorite of mine. Husband and I go there often. I love the food. I love the family recipes. I love the atmosphere.

And I first tasted their Rose Ice Cream and HAD to recreate it ASAP.

It’s rich and creamy, floral, but pretty much perfect in every way. The color is phenomenal. Perfectly pink.

Rose Ice Cream

2 cups heavy cream

1 cup whole milk

2 egg yolks

3/4 cup sugar (or sugar substitute)

In a small saucepan, add the milk, cream, eggs, and sugar. Simmer on low for 5-8 minutes to heat through. Remove from the stove and chill completely.

Add 8-10 drops Plant Therapy Rose essential oil

1 drop red food coloring (or half a drop, to desired coloring.)

Place your mixture into a small Cuisinart Ice Cream maker. I love mine. It’s like the little engine that could. I’ve had it for years and basically made a whole cookbook with it. It’s durable. AND ON SALE! Go here.

Follow the directions for your ice cream maker. Serve cold of course.

I also made some chocolate covered strawberry brownies too.

The ratio of brownie + strawberries + ganache = happiness.

Happy Baking!
