Burger Mac Bake- a childhood favorite

This casserole is a childhood favorite of mine. My mom always made dinner special, and without a doubt, this casserole makes me smile and my heart happy each and every time.

Burger Mac Bake (My favorite childhood dinner!)

1 lb. lean ground beef or ground turkey

1 small onion, diced

1 green pepper, diced

1 can diced tomatoes

1/2 cup sour cream

1/2 cup broth

1/2 cup heavy cream or milk

1 tsp. kosher salt

1/2 tsp. garlic powder

1/2 tsp. parsley

1 ½ cups cheddar cheese, grated

1 lb. macaroni, cooked and drained

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

In a large skillet, brown meat, onion and pepper. Stir in tomatoes with juices, sour cream, broth, seasonings and cooked pasta. Combine with macaroni noodles and pour into a buttered 9×13 casserole dish. Top with cheese and bake 30 minutes until heated through and cheese is melted.
